Free-Soloing Rock Climber Happy Fall

On the afternoon of July 10, a rock climber fell roughly 30 meters throughout free solo play on the Direct East Face on First Flatiron. The 22-year-old Boulder climber was close to the highest of the climb after they fell off a low-angle rock and landed on a ledge beneath.

They have been severely injured and could not transfer. Their climbing companions continued to the summit and requested for assist. One other pair of hikers close by accessed the injured hiker and administered first assist till extra assist arrived. Rescuers and paramedics from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group stepped in to supply further care.

Injured climbers have been lowered to the underside of the route with vacuum splints and full physique litter. He was then evacuated to the trailhead and hospital. A number of companies collaborated on this rescue, together with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Workplace, Boulder Metropolis Open Areas and Mountain Park, American Medical Response, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
